Last week at the MD DOG, I got to camp beside a good friend. That little yellow T@B sitting next door to me lives on Lake Hickory, not too far away from me back here at home. The parents of this friend are good friends with my Camper Mom.
Chef D'Nise and her Sous Chef Bill cook up a storm. The Dutch oven dishes that came from next door smelled wonderful and tasted even better. Chef D'Nise has the nickname of "Queen of Fierce" because she will tackle any dish in her cast iron. She even cooked a 10-layer cake this week!!!
Chef D'Nise has been cooking in camp Dutch ovens for many years and has a wealth of knowledge in the field. Not only that, she doesn't hesitate to share tips and shortcuts with other Chefs like Momma Sharon. In fact, one afternoon, she hollered from her campsite to ours to tell us we should store our lighter cubes in peanut butter jars. BRILLIANT!
As soon as we got back home, Momma Sharon scraped out the last of our peanut butter so she could re-purpose the plastic jar for those charcoal lighter cubes which tend to be crumbly and kinda hard to get out of their sectioned container.
This little container is going to fit nicely in our CDO bucket and keep those cubes handy when it's time to start the charcoal chimney. Thanks Chef D'Nise for sharing this coolio idea with Mom!
Thanks to all of you who dropped by this evening for a Story. I've got a few more Chapters left about my trip to Maryland, so check by tomorrow. Until then, always remember . . .
