Another Incredible Blue Ridge Rally

Hello friends near and far!  I am here with a Short Story to get you ready for a whole series of Postcards from our 12th Annual Blue Ridge Rally.

Mom took me up the mountain to Raccoon Holler Campground in Glendale Springs on Friday the 10th to meet, greet, and hang out with 60 of the most incredible trailers on the face of the earth.  While I was doing that, she was entertaining 100 of her camping buddies.  We both had an incredible week with them all and we have a boatload of Stories to tell, Postcards to send, and snapshots to share!

Get ready to see and hear why "we have so much fun it should be illegal".

How The Stars Aligned - Chapter 7

Greetings everyone!  I hope you are having a groovy day.  Momma Sharon's whirlwind life continues believe it or not and I have a Short Story today about how the stars are continuing to align!

Our SC State Park trip last week was oh so fun, but I knew the respite for my Camper Mom was short-lived.  This week and next have been and will continue to be HECTIC (notice I put that in all caps)!

Just when you thought all those stars were aligned and you knew the whole Story, there's another Chapter!  This one involves the old girl, The Coffee Cup.  Mollie (Murphy's Ollie) won't be ready to roll out of the factory in Tennessee until mid-July, but our seasonal campsite at Raccoon Holler is ready and waiting on us right now.  The Cup has had leaks (Uncle Rob fixed those), she needed brake work (Jimmy took care of that at Newsome Tire), but she desperately needed new tires and a battery.  Plus sitting in the Javaport for months, she had accumulated quite a bit of dirt.

On Tuesday, Mom pulled out the hose, ladder, bucket, soap, and wash cloth and gave that old girl half a bath.  Yes, you read that right . . . half a bath.  This morning, she got out the dolly and rolled the little Scotty out into the driveway to give her the other half.  Then it was time to hitch her up to Splish for a date with Jimmy to get new tires and a new battery.

It was a little scary seeing her perched up in the air so high!  She couldn't have been in better hands though.  Mom reluctantly left her there until it was time to hitch a ride back over and pick her up.  By 3:00, new higher-rated trailer tires were on and a new battery was installed.  Then it was time for Splish to get some TLC . . . inspection, oil change, and tire rotation.

Everyone is back home now and tomorrow, packing will begin for the trip to Raccoon Holler on Saturday.  It will be Uncle Rob to the rescue once again.  He will be towing The Cup up the mountain for us because Splish doesn't have a brake controller.  He and Momma Sharon will get her all set up in site #86 and I predict it's going to be a glorious two and a half months in The Holler for everyone.

Tomorrow will be a fun day going through all the Cup's stuff and picking just the right items for her vacation in the mountains.  I think Mom has kinda forgotten where everything is . . . LOL.

Did you know that The Coffee Cup has a blog too?  Yeppers, but it's been a very long time since anything new was added there.  On Saturday night, I guarantee there will be a new post and you can check it out HERE!

Until it's time for the last Chapter of How The Stars Aligned, always remember . . .

Tales From The Holler

Hey everyone!  This is a red-letter day for me.  It's the first EVER day that Momma Sharon has let me send you a Story while camping. Normally, she will turn the blogging duties over to me once we get home.  That's how special this is!!

I'm sitting up on the hill for this outing instead of down under the pine trees.  I'm parked in site 123, the same one I had last summer.  It's a good site until about 1:00 when the sun comes around the trees and the shade disappears.  Man oh man, it can get hot, hot, hot if there aren't any clouds.   Mom and the pups head next door to hang out with The Cousins because they have SHADE.

Momma Sharon and Uncle Rob talked to Helen today in the office and made their reservations for next summer.  Pod and I are moving to different sites so I can have some shade!  That will be sweet.  Pod is next door this week in site 125.

Murphy and Baby Gracie are camping with me this week.  It's been a long, long time since that has happened and we are having fun,  The sleep a lot, take lots of walks, and drink a lot of water . . . LOL.  They love heading out in Levi (Rob's truck) every morning to go exploring.

The temperatures have been abnormally hot in The Holler this week, but it's a lot cooler here than at home.  During the day it's in the mid-80s, but it cools down quickly, and drops to the 60s at night.  That lets me keep my windows wide open at night and that's the way Momma Sharon loves to sleep in a campground.

Splish is enjoying her first time at RHC and here she is on Monday afternoon during the rain storm that blew through.

I'm wearing my new awnings this week and they really set off my splashy colors.  Mr. Werner is close by and doing triple-duty by holding my bucket light, ice maker, and fan.  Aunt Becky packed both sets of dog pens for us to use this week, so they are set up too.  Our camping flags are in place for all to enjoy.

If you've never been to The Holler, I think you would really like it . . . I sure do.  The bathhouse is a close walk for my Camper Mom and there are lots of roads that she can take the pups for a walk on. She really likes to walk around and look at all the seasonal trailers and their cute decor.  There's lots to love about Raccoon Holler Campground and it's one of my all-time favorite places to camp!

Well, that's my Special Edition Story for you!  I'll have some other Tales to tell when I get home on Sunday.  Until then, always remember . . .

Camping In The Holler

Mornin' camper friends!  It's Friday and that means that many of you will be out in a campground having the time of your lives.  That was me a couple of weeks ago and it will be me in a couple of weeks from now!

I've had a good time this week sharing Stories with you from The Holler.  Since Momma Sharon is feeling better, she will be snatching the computer back from me any time now.  So let me share a few more photos and wrap up this fun week with one last Story.

My last 5 vintage pennants got hung this week
We love to wake up with the sun, windows open, shades up
Look at those temps!  Flatlanders, eat your hearts out!!
Ain't it the truth . . . especially in a campground
Still diggin' the tablecloth that Aunt Becky gave me
What a way to start my day . . . waking up in The Holler
That's my Cousin Pod right next door
Stylin' and profilin' with my blue window awning on Tuesday
Momma flipped it over on Wednesday for a new look
Check out Dutch Oven Central out back
You gotta take Pod's advice and "JUST GO"

Love, love, love Pod's tablescape
Raccoon Holler is a home away from home
Site 123, a great site up on the hill . . . I'll be back next summer!

Thanks for dropping by each day this week.  I will see ya at the end of August as Momma Sharon, Aunt Becky, and I hit the road for Cunningham Falls State Park in Maryland.  Until then, always remember . . .

My First Camping Season...

Hey everyone!  It's not quite camping season here...actually it's snowing...our first snow of the winter!  I thought I'd tell you the story about my first camping season while we're waiting on Spring to arrive.

The very first time my Momma Sharon and I camped together was at the Tom Johnson Camping Center when she picked me up way back in March of 2007.  We spent the night together in the campground so she could make sure all my equipment worked.  It was just like a sleepover when she snuggled down under the covers for the night!

My first official camping trip was all the way to Williamsburg, VA and the Jamestown 1607 Rally at American Heritage Campground.  Since I've already told you that story, I'll just move on to the next one.

During the summer of 2007, I got to meet my cousin from South Carolina....."SunshineT@B".  SunshineT@B belongs to Mom's friend Linda, from Walterboro.  And you know what's so cool?  Her number is one away from mine.....I'm number 2487 and she is 2486.  That means I followed her down the assembly line in Indiana!   Our first trip together was in Georgia, at Tallulah Gorge State Park.

Just a month later, Becky and Momma Sharon met Linda up in the NC mountains at a neat little park tucked back in Balsam Mountain...Moonshine Creek Campground.  They spent five days exploring, antiquing, shopping, and having fun.  I got a little damp because it rained every single afternoon!

Let me tell you something...I was one lucky camper in the fall of 2007!  Why?  Because I got to go to four campgrounds in three different states.  Our first little fall get-away was to a pretty little park (my all-time favorite) just north of Marion called Mountain Stream RV Park.  Murphy the Camper Dog and Becky joined in the fun!

In mid-October, all of us hit the road again for a trip to Raccoon Holler Campground in Glendale Springs.  We drove up a pretty curvy, steep mountain road, but Momma Sharon did just fine.  She's really getting the hang of pulling me around.

I love camping in the fall when the leaves are changing and the weather is cool.  It's great fun!!  We traveled up to Townsend, TN for the Fall Wahoo Rally at the KOA there.  I got to meet lots more T@Bs and Momma Sharon made lots of new friends too.

We wrapped up the 2007 camping season with a trip down to Fort McAllister State Park.  This park is located south of Savannah, near Tybee Island so my Camper Mom and Aunt Becky had lots to see and do.  SunshineT@B and Linda joined us again and it was the perfect trip to close out my very first camping season.

I'm so glad you stopped by again for another one of my Stories.  This one was pretty long with lots and lots of photos to look, so I'm really happy you dropped by!  I hope you've had a great weekend and if it's snowing where you live...ENJOY!!
