Making It A Home

It's a chilly Sunday here in the Foothills and it's obvious that winter is right around the corner.  Today I wanted to share a Picture Story about how my Camper Mom tries to make camping with me a real homey experience.  Now, she doesn't really get into all that glamping, frufru stuff, but she does like to spruce our campsite up a bit with special touches.  Here's what I'm talking about . . .

Miss Ellen gave Aunt Becky a special plant for our picnic table
Home is where Momma Sharon takes me
A little fall bunting hanging from my front cabinets is kinda sweet
There's a place for everything in the Clam
I love seeing my Southern Living banner hanging out front for all to see
This T@B Halloween decoration is too stinkin' cute
We have welcomed Beach Peeps every year since 2014
Aunt Becky painted this rock in MD,
but left it in our campsite to be found by another camper
Roger's flowers lasted all week at James Island &
were special to look at every day
Even though we have enough flags for every day,
we liked this fall one the best
Sitting pretty during the day
Looking stunning at night

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Until have have another Story to tell and snapshots to share, always remember . . .

Murphy & Sophie's 1st Caravan

Hey everyone!  All my human and puppy peeps are back home from the Coastal Caravan.  Mom backed me into my T@Bport about 2:30 this afternoon and began preparations for my long winter nap.  Before I start my hibernation, she said that I could write a few Stories to share with you.

Our Coastal Caravan was #4 the year, but it's the first one that Murphy and Sophie have ever been on.  Normally they would both be home while we were down on the South Carolina coast with our camping buddies.  But this year, a couple of circumstances changed all that.  Little Murphy has started having seizures, so Momma Sharon doesn't let her out of her sight.  And Sophie usually stays home with Daddy Roger, but she lost him six weeks ago.

Ready to leave home for the Coastal Caravan IV

Murphy and Sophie get along really well and that means that they travel good together.  Some creative packing in Splish gives them each a third of the back seat.  Unless it's time for them to eat, they are so quiet, you wouldn't even know they are back there!

They wait in the truck while we are setting up the campsite and then they get to spend some quality time with Mom and Aunt Becky.  They hang out in their pen, lay on the mat, sleep on the cushions, snooze in a chair, and Murphy specially likes to lay in my doorway.  At night, they both burrow down on the blanket between the beds.

Murphy the Camper Dog can sleep anywhere!

You might be thinking that all those two pups did last week was sleep, but they also went for walks on the beach, shopped at some great stores, strolled through the park, ate ice cream, visited with the other camping pups (Pepper 1, Pepper 2, Kobe, & Lilly), and ate out at a lot of neat beach restaurants!

Lunch at Duffy Street Seafood Shak in Ocean Drive
Lunch in a tall chair at Pier 14 Restaurant
Taking a walk through Myrtle Beach State Park
Strolling the beach on Kiawah Island
Checking out the Festival of Lights with Momma Sharon
Free treats at the Southern Living Store
Lunch at Bubba's Love Shak
A lazy supper at Home Team BBQ in Charleston
Sophie eating ice cream in Charleston
Beach bums at Beachwalker Park
Schnauzer greetings at the Camp Store

Miss Murphy did really good on our Caravan.  Despite having a seizure one night in our 2nd week, her energy level was high, and she was up for everything Momma Sharon had planned.  We don't know how many more camping trips are in her future, but she's a tough little pup and Mom will do anything to keep her happy and healthy.

All of us are glad to be home again and until I have another Story for you, always remember . . .

A Little Caravan Bling

Greetings from Myrtle Beach State Park, home of the Beach Peeps in their 2nd week of the Coastal Caravan IV.  Mom is taking the night off from sending her Postcards and said I could write a little Story for you today.

My Camper Mom, Aunt Becky, and the pups had a really laid back day. They drove down to the Boardwalk in Myrtle Beach and met their friends at Pier 14 for lunch.  I think they were worried that it might be too cool to eat outside, but the wind was blocked by the building and the sun was warm.  Miss Murphy got to sit up in her own chair.  From fish tacos to clam chowder, crab cakes to shrimp platters, lunch was a hit!

After lunch, they all strolled down the Boardwalk until our little Murphy started lagging behind.  So Mom turned around and headed back to the car, but snapped a few photos along the way.

Here's where the bling happens!  On the way home, my Camper Mom told Aunt Becky to stop at Market Commons to see what shops might be worth stopping at.  When they spied a Southern Living store, it didn't take long to find a parking spot.  As soon as they went in, Murphy and Sophie were offered treats.  Then Mom spied some caravan bling she knew I would love.

Here is the store display . . .

And here's my present!!

Once we get back home, Mom plans on sewing the little letter banners to the string.  The clothespins work OK, but I want a more tailored look.

So that's my Story for you today.  It's time to pull out our heater, get me all toasty warm for good sleeping, and tell you nite nite.  Until I have another story to share, always remember . . .

Saturday Snitches With Splash

Hi everyone and greetings from the South Carolina coast!  I snitched the laptop away from Momma Sharon this morning because she is a tad under the weather.  It's her crappy (pun intended) ole IBS flaring up again.  Not to worry though, we are spending happy time together with the camping pups.  Aunt Becky and all the girls are in Summerville hitting up the antique malls today.  I cannot wait to see what they bring home!

Last night about 10:30, Paul and Heidi rolled in.  I got to say hello to her this morning and welcome her to my beach party!  As they often do, a bunch of Beach Peeps were standing in the middle of the road talking. This time it was Aunt Becky, Miss Ellen, Miss Sue being silly, and Miss Heidi.

Mom and the pups made a quick run to Walmart this morning for some toilet paper (LOL), chocolate milk to settle her stomach, and co-axial cable.  Now the first two items obviously make sense, but what about that cable?

Our Blue Ridge Buddy, Mr. Warren, told us that to get CHEAP and GOOD digital reception in a campground, simply get a co-axial cable, strip back all the sheathing, and expose the copper wire in the middle.  Stick it up in the air, attach it to the TV, and voila!  Crystal clear reception for pennies!!

So while the pup-pups were snoozing, she snitched Mr. Warren's idea and got us wired for afternoon football and the Panther's game tomorrow!

Does it work?  You betcha!!

All my peeps are now taking it easy in the Clam and enjoying this grand camping day in the Low Country.  Oh yeh, would it surprise you to know that Mom and her buddies all made their reservations for NEXT year this very morning?  You gotta love their camping spirit!

I know you were expecting a Postcard today, but I hope my little Story about some Saturday Snitches was an OK substitute.  Have a great day wherever you are!

My Jaunty Peeps

Well howdy everyone on this first Wednesday in October!  An incredibly beautiful day I might add.

Now if you want to see something REALLY beautiful, then take a gander at my Jordan Lake Peeps! Mom is all the time snapping photos of her friends, so this is a special Pictorial Story of my friends.

I hope you have enjoyed my Stories this week.  I will be back soon to tell you about our last trip of the 2017 season as we head south for the Coastal Caravan.  Until then, always remember . . .

Breakfast By The Lake

Well hello again.  Splash here with a whole bunch of fun photos from our potluck breakfast on Saturday morning at the Jordan Lake Jaunt. Breakfast?  Yep, Momma Sharon and Miss Jennifer decided to shake things up a bit and have everyone gather by the lake for a delicious way to kick off the day.

How can you argue with scrambled eggs and sausage cooked on the griddle, breakfast casseroles, yogurt parfaits, coffee cakes, and fresh fruit.  Who doesn't love breakfast!  Based on the smiling faces, I would say that our Jaunters LOVED eating breakfast outdoors.

Mom threw together a couple of collages of all the awesome eats for my Story today.  Enjoy!

My Camper Mom tries really hard to get snaps of everyone at her gatherings, so hopefully you will see your mug in these collections.

Because Mom is preoccupied with making soap this week, I will have Mac access for a few more days.  I invite you to drop by tomorrow for another Story from the Jordan Lake Jaunt.  Until then, always remember . . .
