The Excitement Is Building

Aloha!!  I thought I would greet you with a little island flair this morning as I prepare for my upcoming trip to the coast.  Next Sunday I will be joining 13 of my best friends at Oak Plantation Campground near Charleston, where we will set up camp for a week of adventure, Coastal Caravan-style!

Momma Sharon, the CCIII Campmeister, has had a sting of stressful days.  Hurricane Matthew did significant damage to the first two stops on our caravan.  Both Huntington Beach State Park and Edisto Beach State Park in South Carolina are closed and although they will reopen, it won't be in time for our reservations!  So Mom has had to scramble around and come up with Plan B.  And I'm here to report that she has found a great place for us to gather and we will be there for the entire week.  Oak Plantation will be our headquarters for coastal fun!

While it's not steps away from the beach like the two state parks were, we are only 14 miles away from Kiawah Island and Beachwalker Park.  We are only 10 miles from Charleston and being on Johns Island opens up a whole new set of places to eat and explore.  The excitement is really building as we prepare for this new destination.  New beaches to watch a sunrise on, new opportunities for gathering together for happy hours and potluck suppers, new places to go junkin', new historical sites to see.  Yep, the excitement is building!!

Time for more spur-of-the-moment group photos
Time for delicious Dutch oven cooking
Time to watch the day wake up
Time to see old friends again
Time to decorate for Halloween
Time for toes to go back in sand & water
Time for Momma's Postcards From The Road

Even though we haven't gotten the official word about River's End Campground on Tybee Island being open for our second week, we all have our fingers crossed.  They have hinted on their Facebook page that they will reopen by the end of the week.  Since our reservations don't start until the 30th, we believe that we will be A-OK for Tybee.

This is going to be a busy week for me and the Camper Mom as we check things off our list and get Splish ready to roll.  I will check in with you one day this week with a Storied update.  Until then, always remember . . .
