Keeping Me Clean In The Campground

Good morning campers far and wide!  One thing I have noticed that I have in common with my Trailer Peeps is that our Camper Moms like cleanliness and order.  I may not be an old gal like my Shasta, Utopia, and Monitor friends, but Momma Sharon treats me just as special.

Not long after I arrived in Newton, she was thinking I needed something to cover up my plain (and cold) linoleum floor.  She took some newspaper and painters tape and made a template of my floor.  At our local carpet store, she found a remnant of thick, chocolate brown carpet.  With that carpet and template, she went to another local store and had a wall-to-wall carpet made.  The edges were bound and it fit me like a glove.

When we are camping at the beach or in campsites with tiny gravel, my carpet has a tendency to get dirty quickly.  Usually Aunt Becky takes care of vacuuming.  I always laugh when she says it's time to vacuum.  Why?  Because it involves using a lint roller.  Yep, our carpet cleaner of choice is a lint roller!!

Even though it was just the Mom camping last week at the Frolic, she seemed to drag in a lot of trash and that meant it was time to pull out the vacuum cleaner.  I told her she should take a snapshot of this ingenious housekeeping appliance.

Roll it clean, pull off the dirty sheet, throw it away, and VOILA . . .  clean carpet!

I really appreciate you dropping by today for a silly little Story.  I will compose another one for you tomorrow, so come back if you have time.  Until then, always remember . . .

Wow, It's Utopia

Utopia might be a great word to describe camping with Sisters on the Fly, but in my Story today, it's all about one incredible trailer!  I love meeting and greeting new trailers and there's always one that blows me away.  I sent Momma Sharon over with her camera and said, "take a million snapshots of this one!!"  Well, she didn't take a million, but she did take a bunch and here they are . . .

Everything you need to know on some vintage luggage

Miss Tammy, Sister #5073 is from nearby Beaufort, SC and her gorgeous orange and white trailer is a 1968 Utopia Pan-O-Ramic.  I think Mom's eyes glazed over when she got the tour at the Frolic.  It was a feast for those eyes and she was snapping photos left and right.  Take a look at a whole bunch of snaps and you will understand why!!

Frolic Happies

You know what I love about gatherings like the Fantastic Frolic? Momma Sharon and I get happies!  Well, actually I usually don't get anything, but that's OK because I love the smile on Mom's face when she is handed a bag of goodies.

Here's the bag that Miss Jennifer and Miss Peggy handed Mom on Wednesday.  It's so neat when the rally organizers and hostesses give you little gifts.  Here's what we got last week . . .

Our personalized name tag
Two little soap samples from Nour-ish in Savannah
A copy of Pink magazine, Inis cologne sample,  notepad, and Poo-Pourri spritz
A variety of brochures about Lowcountry attractions
And to top it all off, Momma's oldest Sister-Friend, Miss Rebecca gave her an uber cool plastic tray with coffee cups all over it!!  She used it all weekend to take food items over to party central for breakfast, happy hour, and supper.  I am 100% certain it will go camping with us forever and ever!

HAPPIES . . . unexpected gifts from friends just because.   How fun!!

As always, thanks for dropping by for a little Story Time.  I'll work on another one for tomorrow and until then, always remember . . .

Gwen & Franny's Fried Chicken

Gwen & Franny's Fried Chicken Soul Food & Bar-B-Q . . . yeppers, that's the whole name of a little lunch joint that Momma Sharon went to on Friday.  She and Aunt Becky always seek out the local spots when it's time to eat.  Since my Camper Mom was flying solo on this trip, she wasn't about to change the routine.

She dropped the address in Jill the GPS and was on her way.  Located right on Highway 17 just a hop, skip, and jump from the campground, she and Splish pulled into the parking lot looking for a foodie adventure.  There were lots of cars, even at 1:30 . . . a very good sign.

The minute that Mom stepped inside she saw that practically every table was occupied and not only was she the only woman in there, she was the only paleface . . . LOL!  The menu was full of yummy-sounding food and the smell was divine.  Hmmm, what would she order?  Well it ended up being chicken tenders, fries, and a sweet tea.  It took a while for her plate to arrive and that's because everything was cooked to order . . . no heat lamps hanging over chicken here!

I wish you could have seen the look on my Camper Mom's face when she bit into that first tender!  I believe she thought she had died and gone to chicken heaven.  She gave the ladies in the kitchen a big thumbs-up.

By the time she finished licking her fingers, the whole place had cleared out and she was able to snap another photo without bothering all the folks there earlier.   If there is another Frolic in our future, you better believe there will be a return trip to Gwen & Franny's.

Thanks for stopping by for my Story today and I promise to write another for you to read tomorrow.   Until then, always remember . . .

Our 1st Trip Of The Season

While Momma Sharon is in her anesthesia chair snuggling with the pups, she said I could have the computer for a bit.  We wanted to let everyone know that we are back home safe and sound from the Fantastic Frolic.  It was pretty chilly when Mom rolled out of bed this morning a little after 7:00.  Our little Pelonis ceramic heater did a great job of keeping us toasty warm at Camp Lake Jasper.  Thank goodness, because it's the coldest nighttime temps we have had in a long time!

We were both old sleepy heads this week and never got up before eight o'clock.  I guess that's why we missed the mist on the lake.  But Mom grabbed her camera and snapped a photo of Lake Jasper and one of me as the sun came up over the campground.

We went through our hitching-up-routine and pulled out just a few minutes after 8 as the Sisters were still sleeping.  The trip home was pleasant and uneventful - just like we like it!

I'll have several Stories to tell you this week:  lunch at Gwen & Franny's Fried Chicken Soul Food & BBQ, our successful 6th Street Soap Company sales, the uber cool vintage campers I met, and some other tidbits.  Thanks for coming by so I could tell you a little Tale and until I'm back with another, always remember . . .

Wake Up, Wake Up!

"Wake up, wake up!" Momma Sharon said today as she walked up to me.  I have been snoozing away in my T@Bport since November, just waiting for Spring and our first camping trip of 2017.  Tomorrow bright and early, we head south to Camp Lake Jasper to join the ever wild and crazy Sisters on the Fly for the Fantastic Frolic.

We've never been to this campground, so we are both excited about the prospect of camping in a new place.  There will be lots to see and do down there in the South Carolina Low Country, not to mention lots of fun scheduled for the Frolic.  I'm sad that Aunt Becky won't be joining us and the pups will be home with Wendy, but my Camper Mom and I will have a grand time I'm sure.

Two packages arrived recently, so when Mom said "wake up, wake up", it was kinda like Christmas morning with presents.  She bought two happies for me to celebrate our 11th year on the road together. The first one came in a long box and it's a smaller version of The Clam that we love so much - perfect when it's just the two of us.  The second is a new outdoor rug.  It doesn't really match my splashy colors, but it was just too stinkin' cute to pass up.

We've both got a long to-do list for today to get ready for our a.m. departure, so I need to scoot.  Look for Mom's Postcards From The Road tomorrow evening and I will see you back here for the wrap-up on Sunday evening.  Until then, always remember . . .

Family Photostrips

Greetings everyone.  It's time for me to wrap up my Storytime from the recent Coastal Caravan.

We all came home on such a high, but this past week has been very emotional.  First came the scary diagnosis of cancer in Murphy's lower jawbone, then the rollercoaster ride of the election, followed by the wildfires in our beloved mountains.  There have been times this week that Momma Sharon could hardly come to grips with it all.

I have a few leftover snapshots of the faces behind all our fun to share with you and then I'll be signing off for 2016 to begin my winter hibernation.  It's been a great camping season with my Camper Mom, Aunt Becky, Murphy and Gracie, and all our friends.  Thanks for following our adventures and reading my Stories!!
