Camp@Home

Brrrrrrrrr!  It sure is cold here in NC!  I've been cold all week and I'm ready for some warm temperatures and sunny days again.

My Momma Sharon is back from the beach after making a stop in Charlotte to meet Rob and Trisha at the NC RV Show.  She told me that she didn't see anything there as cute as I am and that she wouldn't trade me for a million dollars.  I already knew that, but it sure makes me feel special all over again . . . blush, blush.

Mom follows a blog called "Girl Camping", but it's really geared to vintage trailers, not T@Bs like me. The ladies there have announced that today, January 26th, is Camp@Home Day and told all their followers to spend the tonight in their campers.  For all the gals that live in warm places, that would work.  Momma Sharon probably would like to camp in me tonight, but it's just too cold for her tootsies.  Gee whiz, it's too cold for MY tootsies!!

I guess she could light a candle, makes some s'mores, sleep on the living room floor and pretend she's camping . . . LOL.  Or maybe she could just gather up all her little camper toys like one of the Girl Campers did and create a pretend campground.

Well, stay warm out there all you campers whether your Moms are with you or not on this Camp@Home evening and remember . . .

Keeping The Blues Away

Happy Friday to all my camping friends!

Momma Sharon is at the beach hanging out with Aunt Becky and they are enjoying a sunny morning.  I'm here tucked under my T@Bport with some frigid weather swirling around me.  I don't know about you, but I'm ready for camping season to arrive!  It's kinda easy to get depressed under these conditions, so I'm trying to think happy thoughts.

Just in case you have a case of the non-camping, I'm-cold, when-is-Spring-going-to-get-here blues, here is something to make you smile...

Package On The Doorstep

Greetings everyone, SplashT@B here for another Story on this beautiful Sunday in January!  Momma Sharon's full attention is on the NFL game on TV, so I get a little computer time all to myself.

Don't you just love it when you open the door to find a package on the porch or doorstep?  I sure do!!  That's what happened yesterday when a box from Amazon arrived.

As soon as my Camper Mom opened that box, I got super-duper excited.  It was a set of BAL Base Pads for my stabilizers!  My good buddy RT, the Little Red T@Boose, has a set and I've hinted a whole bunch of times that I'd like them too . . . tee hee.

If I'm camping on a concrete pad or asphalt, I don't need anything to help support me, but if I'm on gravel or grass or dirt, Momma Sharon always puts nifty yellow pads down for me to sit on.  She'll probably still pack those along with us, but won't use them unless there's a steeper slope to our camp site.

BAL is the same company that manufactures the leveler that slides under one of my tires to make sure I'm level side-to-side.  Mom has always said that is the single best thing she ever bought for me!  These base pads will be super easy to install and I'll be sure to show you a photo of them when I go camping in March with Pod to Chester State Park.

I need to scoot, but I really appreciate y'all coming over for a bit to hear another Story.  Have a good Sunday and remember . . .

Artsy-Fartsy Frenzy

Greetings on this beautiful, but cold Saturday morning in the Carolinas!

My Camper Mom has been in an artsy-fartsy frenzy this week working on a custom T@B clock order for a friend in -4 degree Vermont.  Ellalou saw some of Momma Sharon's one-of-a-kind camping clocks and asked for a retro red one.

It takes longer to collect all the collage materials and get them laid out just so than it does to actually create the clock.  In the end, it's a pretty neat collection of items with a specific color theme.  Ellalou requested a red and turquoise one and this is what will be shipped north to her next Tuesday.  I just know my T@B cousin up there in New England is gonna like it!

To all my brave buddies out there camping this weekend, have fun, stay warm, and remember . . .

Hella-Cool Camping Ideas

Hey folks . . . happy mid-week to ya!  I sure hope you are having better weather where you are than we're having here.  I'm nice and dry in my T@Bport, but it's been raining for days and the forecast for tomorrow is a chance of snow . . . YIKES!

Hey, you know about Pinterest don't you?  It's that big online bulletin board where you pin pictures of stuff that really interests you.  I don't have a Pinterest account, but Momma Sharon does and she has a bunch of boards dedicated to camping stuff.  She really likes unusual camping ideas and she saves those ideas in "Hella-Cool Camping Ideas".  I just love that name!!  I also like to see what she might make to take along when we camp together.  Stuff like this little grill made from a tin can + tin foil + a small grate . . .

If you'd like to see what else is pinned there, just click on the photo. You might find a hella-cool idea to snitch!

Even though this is a quick short Story for you this evening, I still am tickled that you dropped by.  Take care and remember .  . .

Pod And I Ride Again!

I certainly didn't expect to be sharing another one of my Stories with you so soon, but my cousin Pod over in Landis and I took it upon ourselves to schedule a camping trip.  Both of us wanted to hit the road this weekend, but the folks couldn't get their acts together to pull it off.

Pod suggested that we kick off our 2013 camping season together at Chester State Park between Charlotte and Columbia.  So we snitched a couple credit cards and booked sites side by side for the weekend of March 15-17.  How 'bout them apples!!

If you'd like to read Pod's version of this story, just click on his photo and scoot over to his blog.

I'm thinking this is going to be a really nice park.  With 523 acres that includes a 160-acre lake, we ought to see some really nice scenery.  The park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, so you know it's going to be a special place to camp!

Momma Sharon has never been there or to the area around Chester for that matter, so she's going to be really excited with I tell her the news that Pod and I are ready to ride!

Thanks for stopping by again.  I'll leave you with a couple photos of Chester State Park that I snitched off the internet and remember . . .

Campfire Cooking

Greetings on this Saturday night in January that feels like a Saturday night in March or April!  I told Momma Sharon that it was warm enough to go camping this weekend, but she replied that it was going to be too rainy to pack and unpack on Friday, too foggy and humid today, and she didn't want to miss football playoffs tomorrow.  EXCUSES, EXCUSES!

So while she's watching the Packers vs. the 49-ers this evening, I snitched some computer time to tell you about the motherlode of camping recipes!  It's on the KOA website and has hundreds and hundreds of recipes perfect for your favorite campground.

Need a new breakfast dish to kickstart your day?  How about something healthy and nutritious for lunch?  I bet you'd like something to cook over your evening campfire wouldn't you?  Well, just click on the KOA logo and I'll zip you right over to their Campfire Cooking site.

Now is the perfect time to start adding to your camping recipe file. Trust me, you'll thank me come camping season.  In the meantime, just remember . . .

Momma Sharon Is Up To Something

Hey campers!  Thanks for coming by today to see if I have another SplashT@B Story to tell.  In fact I do!

Yesterday my Camper Mom had a long to-do list in hand and headed out of the house for several hours.  One of her stops was at Lowe's.  She's been talking about needing a new power tool.  When she does that I can only smile because I know she's up to something.

I can tell you that she's in the midst of planning for the big upcoming 2013 Blue Ridge Rally and when she gets that look on her face like she had yesterday, I know that Momma Sharon has something fun in the works.  On Thursday morning of the BRR, she's hoping that folks will drop by the Pavilion at 10 o'clock in the morning for Camp Craft.  To be perfectly honest with you, I haven't a clue what that's all about.

Here's what she came home with . . . maybe you can figure it out!

One of these days I'll know what all this means and share that Story with you.  Until then, remember . . .
